Design News House & Garden Festival

27th September 2019

This June, The House & Garden Festival returned to Olympia London, exhibiting more than ever before. With over 600 exhibitors attracting over 30,000 guests, the festival offered shoppers and interiors enthusiasts a fantastic range of interior and lifestyle brands within the diverse selection of talks and events.

The four-day festival exhibited thousands of pieces from the garden, interior and lifestyle brands, all hand-picked by an expert team, providing a one-stop shop for interior and garden style. There were four leading lifestyle events to celebrate British Summer: Grow London, Spirit of Summer, HOUSE and The Art & Antiques Fair Olympia.

We paid them a visit and have collated our highlights for you.

Decorated Spaces

For this year’s festival, House & Garden asked two leading designers to decorate spaces, which reflected the best of their own aesthetics. The architectural historian and paint colour specialist Edward Bulmer specialises in the decoration of historic houses. Edwards described his space as ‘comfortably modern but historically resonant’, demonstrating how antique, vintage and modern pieces can work together to make for an inviting and interesting space.

Also exhibiting was Rachel Chudley, a rising star of the British interior design scene, since setting up her east London Design studio in 2015. Rachel’s space at the festival – a seductive night-time dining room – plays with the idea that the room will be created inside a box. Its aim was to create a jewel-box-like atmosphere that is world’s away from the brightly-lit surroundings of the exhibitors’ hall.

Pink House X Sofa & Stuff

Another key addition to this year’s exhibition hall was the display of Sofas & Stuff and influential interiors blogger The Pink House’s first collaboration. The festival provided shoppers with the chance to view, test and purchase the first ever retail collection by the highly credited interiors influencer.

Summer Living workshops

Not just renowned for it display of products, the House & Garden festival also provided a diverse selection of talks and workshops for guests to enjoy and gain knowledge from. The summer living workshops, hosted by a strong panel of home/style experts, gave tips on all elements of summer style, living and entertaining. With everything from how to utilise your garden to boost wellbeing with Olivia Chappel, to how to choose the perfect summer champagne with Louis Roudener, guests were able to gain a full masterclass on how to perfect their summer home and garden style.
