This striking Linear
design was created for a client in North London. The owners enjoy entertaining so had decided to transform the basement into a large open-plan area for cooking, dining and relaxing.
The brief for the project was to keep the space looking very clean and streamlined, but to provide all the functionality of a busy, modern kitchen. The kitchen is located in the middle part of the room, with the dining area towards the conservatory at the back and the living area at the front. This meant that it was important that the kitchen didn't dominate either side of the room, but still provided ample storage for the owners. We achieved this by utilising lots of clever hidden storage
, integrated bins and integrated washing machine and dishwasher. We also used open box shelving on either side of the extractor which creates a less obtrusive feel than wall cupboards, but still provides useful storage.
Our clients loved the look of the Elica extractor, and a green glass splashback was used to add a splash of colour
to the more neutral tones of the cabinetry (the kitchen is painted
in 'Javelin' by Dulux), and this dovetails with the exposed brick on the other side of the room.
