What Are The Benefits Of

Handpainted Furniture?

One of the most popular topics client’s discuss with us when they visit our showroom is the hand painted finish that we offer in all four of our kitchen designs. Whether you have had previous experience with hand painted furniture or have never considered it, there are clear benefits in opting for this finish in your new kitchen.

We always use an oil-based eggshell for painting our cabinetry, which for furniture is by far the most practical and hardwearing type of paint available. It gives a beautifully smooth, matt finish which can easily be cleaned by wiping it with a damp cloth or, when required, a non-abrasive detergent. It also provides a robust and hardwearing finish that will last as long as our cabinets do. Because unlike a lacquer or laminate finish, should the paintwork sustain any damage over the years, handpainted furniture gives the option of easily touching-up any affected areas.

Probably one of the best features of a hand painted kitchen is that, should you want a complete change of colour in the future, you can easily have your kitchen repainted in a completely different colour and even change the handles if you want more of a dramatic transformation. Due to the tried-and-tested traditional joinery methods used by our workshop, our cabinets will always hold their shape and the lines will always remain true, so something as simple as repainting could give you a kitchen that looks brand new, years after you have first installed it.

Let’s not forget the versatility of choosing a hand painted kitchen as you can have any colour that you like! While many other kitchen manufacturers offer a specific, limited range of colours, with a Harvey Jones kitchen you have literally thousands of options. Due to these options, we are fortunate enough to have seen some very individual colour schemes over the years, as the ability to personalise your kitchen with a colour means that many customers have opted for bolder, brighter schemes. This also means that no two kitchens are ever the same, as the simple aspect of colour choice can completely transform a design and gives our clients the ability to truly customise and personalise their kitchen.

Occasionally, when people first visit us in the showroom they ask whether we are able to offer a high gloss finish. This is particularly popular when people are looking to achieve a contemporary look with their kitchen design. The paint finish that we offer comes in a matt finish with a very slight sheen as standard which is what the vast majority of our clients choose to opt for after they have seen how it looks in our showroom displays. We also believe that while a high gloss finish is popular in some areas at present, a matt hand painted finish gives a timeless look that will never go out of fashion. That said, If clients do decide that they would like an alternative finishing effect then we are always happy to discuss this with our skilled painting team and see what they would suggest that would suit the requirements of the client.

You can see a variety of paint colours and finishes in each of our showrooms, and you can find your nearest showroom here. if you would like to discuss your project in more detail with one of our design experts, don’t hesitate to call us on 0800 389 6938, or click here to request a complimentary planning consultation.
