We’ve been crafting our famous Shaker kitchen for more than 30 years, and it remains the range that is most popular amongst our clients. But where did the design originate and what is it that makes it so desirable?

Shaker is a distinctive style of furniture developed by a religious movement known as the Shakers, who migrated to the United States from Manchester in 1774. It is widely admired for its simplicity, finely-honed quality, innovative joinery, and functionality.

Shakers valued open-plan living space that was uncluttered and simple, and believed that every object in the home should have a function because ‘beauty rests on utility’. These underlying principles of Shaker design have given inspiration to some of the finest designers of modern furniture, and continue to do so.

Our own Shaker style cabinetry, created over 30 years ago, was designed with these principles firmly in mind. It has a classical paneled door, clean lines and balanced proportions that give it an elegant, timeless charm that will always be in fashion.

Our Shaker kitchen lends itself to both traditional and contemporary styling, and can be taken in any design direction you choose. Like all of our designs, our Shaker kitchen can be hand painted in any colour and can be accessorised with an endless choice of handles, worktops and appliances.
