During our recent visit to Chester showroom, we sat down with Lewis Buckley, Senior Designer for five questions in five minutes so you could get to know him, and the showroom a little better.
1. How would you describe the Harvey Jones Chester showroom?
An immersive experience into Harvey Jones that showcases our quality and commitment to great design and craftmanship with client front of mind. Beautifully functional kitchen and home spaces to help guide the client through, what can be, an overwhelming experience.
- What’s your favourite display and why?
As soon as you walk into the showroom it’s difficult to ‘pick a favourite’, but if I had to then I’d go with the Arbor and Shaker display in the window. It showcases our in-frame, traditional Arbor and Shaker styles with a contemporary twist. We often have clients that want to combine two of our designs and this display demonstrates how well that can be achieved. The introduction of our new Washed Oak on the island, and a statement ceramic worktop & splashback that is stunning.
- What’s popular with your clients at the moment?
More and more of my clients are becoming more confident with richer colours, textures and creating moodier spaces. By incorporating pops of colour, clients are drawn to warmer shades (navy, greens, burgundies) as well as bolder shades of black.
Shades of green are always popular for the real ‘indoor/outdoor feel’ with rich, deep forest/racing greens as well as sages/pastels.
Timber is back in! Clients are opting for deep chocolatey tones, dark charcoals or simple white washed oaks for a real contemporary vibe
Statement worktops/splashbacks with an interesting vein/pattern to create interest and a focal point within a chimney breast or on an island. It’s something clients love when creating something that’s really ‘individual’ to them
- Can you tell us about a memorable moment you’ve had a kitchen?
It’s probably a cliché, but I always used to bake with my Grandma growing up. She always bakes the BEST cakes, it’s still a running joke that she has to bake for every occasion! Although, I like to think I’ve mastered my brownie and pizza making skills – having the BORA M Pure in the showroom certainly helps!
- Favourite place to visit in Chester for coffee and dinner?
The best place for a coffee has to be Jaunty Goat! They’re a little independent that have the best Baristas, a really cute vibe and the coffee is always perfect. They also do amazing pastries which I love to pick up for all important client meetings.
For dinner I love, Chester Market. It’s a really chilled out vibe and has so many different food/drink vendors under one roof!
