The best interior design shows to visit 2020

If you’re looking for inspiration for a bespoke kitchen project in 2020, or you just fancy a refresh of a few key rooms, why not combine your online and magazine research with a trip out to see some real-life product and listen to advice from the experts? Interior design shows are a great way to find lots of different companies, products and experts all under one roof and you can often get great deals on ticket prices if you buy early.Here are our favourites for this year.

Ideal Home Show

Where: Olympia London, Hammersmith Road, London W14 8UX

When: 27th March to 13th April, 2020

What: If you’re looking for interiors advice and professional know-how or just want to take a closer look at some of the latest trends this year, then the long-running Ideal Home Show is a great showcase for all things home.

Onsite in their new-ish home at Olympia (previously it was situated at Earl’s Court) there will be hundreds of exhibitors, covering everything from home renovations, design inspiration and garden ideas. Plus, there are the usual innovative show homes, rooms styled by Good Homes magazine, plenty of free talks by well-know celebrities, the latest technological innovations and expert advice.

Grand Designs Live

Where: London: ExCel, Royal Victoria Dock, 1 Western Gateway, London E16 1XL; Birmingham National Exhibition Centre, North Avenue, Marston Green, Birmingham B40 1NT

When: London, 2nd to 10th May 2020; Birmingham, 7th to 11th October.

What: Based on the popular and long-running Channel 4 series and presented by Kevin McCloud, this year’s two Grand Design Live shows both feature plenty of expert talks, new products and are sure to be packed with exhibitors who all specialise in home improvement and renovation. As at Ideal Home, there are room sets to provide you with inspiration from interior designers from around the UK plus plenty of advice on how to build, furnish and decorate your home. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re planning a brand new bespoke Shaker kitchen, a spacious loft conversion or even your very own grand design. The four project zones, Kitchen & Bathroom, Interiors, Gardens and Build will feature more than 500 companies and there are also live talks, forums and demonstrations throughout the day.

London Design Week

Where: Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, Lots Road, London SW10 0XE

When: 11th to 13th May, 2020

What: Provenance and craftsmanship is at the heart of this yearly show in SW London’s Design Centre. In addition to the centre’s 120 showrooms and 600 brands, there will be a curated programme of more than 100 events including workshops, talks, artisan demonstrations and discovery tours. A special feature of the show is Design Avenue, which will play host to a raft of guests, only in situ for the duration of the show. Meanwhile, on the main stage, eminent names in the world of design will share their experiences at the acclaimed Conversations in Design series.

Clerkenwell Design Week

Where: Various sites in London, EC1

When: 19th to 20th May, 2020

What: Clerkenwell Design Week celebrates the growing importance of EC1, where a large number of interior businesses, showrooms and architects are located, as a hugely important creative powerhouse in the UK and around the world. Celebrating its 10th year in 2020, the week-long celebration of the area’s rich and diverse design community features many showroom events, exhibitions and special installations that showcase leading UK and international brands and companies that thrive in just a few square miles.

Design London

Where: Magazine London, 11 Ordnance Crescent, Greenwich Peninsula, London SE10 0JH

When: Dates 16-19 September, 2020

What: The show formerly know as 100% Design is the UK’s biggest and longest-running trade event for the design industry.

Although this is first and foremost a trade event there is always a chance for members of the public to experience a selection of fabulous stands featuring projects and product from industry professionals. Exhibitors include architects, designers, specifiers, retailers and developers showcasing new furniture, lighting, fabrics and accessories for the home. The show, in a new venue in Greenwich for the first time also features thought-provoking design installations and talks by industry experts.

London Design Fair

Where: Old Truman Brewery, Shoreditch, London E1 6QR

When: 17-20 September

What: This four-day event located in the creative heart of East London brings together 550 exhibitors from 40 countries including independent designers and established brands. International country pavilions, features and exhibitions ensure every visitor, from influential retail buyers, architects, designers and design-savvy members of the public can view and specify the very latest furniture, lighting, textiles, materials and conceptual installations from around the world.

Design Junction

Where: Various sites in King’s Cross, London N1

When: 12-20 September, 2020

What: A mix of new, exciting brands and world leading designers ensure this show in the heart of King’s Cross is packed with innovative and forward thinking designs for the home. A talks programme, design prizes and stands and showrooms featuring cutting-edge products from furniture and lighting to ceramics and glassware ensures there’s plenty to see.
