Creating a chic Shaker kitchen

27th February 2024
neutral kitchen with navy island

Meet the Client:

This client had recently purchased a property in Enfield and was looking to create a timeless kitchen with modern elegance.  The kitchen needed to feel classic yet contemporary and be a chic addition to their new home.

How It Looks:

Our most classic kitchen design, the Shaker, gets a super modern upgrade in this contemporary space.  The choice of a tone-on-tone neutral palette feels timeless and natural, while the pop of deep blue on the island grounds the space and adds interest.  The kitchen feels crisp, bright and airy and the inclusion of a well-organised larder and walk-in pantry help keep the worktop spaces clean and clear. The walk-in pantry is a feature within itself. Cleverly disguised as part of the cabinetry run of the kitchen, the doors open into a pantry/utility space.

How It Works:

The client has included a very efficient kitchen triangle with the large American-style fridge-freezer, hob and sink all closely situated making this a really practical, as well as beautiful, space. The tall pantry larder within the main kitchen keeps frequently used supplies within easy reach, while the walk-in pantry offers ample space for groceries. This cleverly hidden pantry is complete with an additional sink and worktops to help keep the main kitchen surfaces clear even when entertaining.

Personal touches:

The choice of luxe materials like a gently veined marble-look splashback, large overmantel, polished brass hardware, gold stools and sheepskin cushions all add a touch of understated glamour to the space.  Fluted glass in the door and pendant lights also help the kitchen feel contemporary and on-trend.
