2018 was without a doubt the year of dark, moody interiors. Perfect for adding interest and warmth to any room, inky hues are a trend that seems to loom larger than any others. However, if you’re not feeling quite as dramatic, the same cosy, sophisticated look can be achieved with shades of teal, for a more understated and versatile option. Indeed, teal can be used in many different colour schemes: it pops alongside a crisp white or a softer cream, but it is also a perfect match for coral and pink, and it creates a stunning contrast when paired with wood.

This beautiful shade is a classic that works with nearly any style, from modern to traditional, to eclectic, as it can be both loud and muted, energetic and calming, depending on its tone and surrounding.

Teal is a great colour choice for a kitchen, its warmth and brightness instantly add a homely feel to the room, especially when used on the cabinetry. If you prefer a lighter scheme, incorporate teal on your island to add an interesting pop of colour and ensure space has plenty of character, while maintaining a neutral base.
